Philip Corner is an American composer, performer and educator born in 1933 who came to prominence in the 1960s within the experimental and Fluxus-associated avant-garde, working in contemporary classical, experimental and improvised music. His output encompasses notated works, graphic scores, performance pieces and installations, and over a career he incorporated elements of ritual, improvisation, community participation and cross-cultural influences into both concert works and pedagogical material.
