Johann Paul von Westhoff

Johann Paul von Westhoff was a German Baroque composer and violinist from Dresden, active from the late 17th century into the early 18th century. He composed some of the earliest known solo violin pieces in the German Baroque tradition, utilising virtuosic technique alongside contrapuntal writing and dance forms, and contributed to the development of solo violin repertoire.
