Tony Rice

Tony Rice was an American acoustic guitarist born in Danville, Virginia, who began his professional career in the early 1970s and worked primarily in bluegrass, progressive bluegrass and Americana. He developed a flatpicking technique that incorporated jazz-influenced harmonies and improvisation into acoustic and bluegrass settings, later recording instrumental and more jazz-oriented projects that emphasised complex arrangements.
