Aïyb Dieng is a Senegalese percussionist who began his career in Dakar before working internationally from the 1970s, specialising in West African and Afro-Caribbean percussion within world, jazz and experimental music contexts. Known for his use of talking drum and other traditional hand percussion, he integrated West African rhythmic approaches into improvisational, ambient and electronic projects and contributed rhythmic textures to a variety of international collaborative recordings and live performances.
