Ingrid Laubrock is a German-born saxophonist and composer who emerged in the European jazz and free-improvisation scenes in the 1990s before relocating to New York, working primarily in contemporary jazz and experimental improvised music. Her work blends composed structures with free improvisation, often employing extended techniques and unconventional forms as she moved from small-group improvisation into larger ensemble compositions that engage with contemporary approaches to rhythm, texture and form.
