Le Groupe des Six

Le Groupe des Six, commonly known as Les Six, were a collective of six French composers formed in Paris around 1920 and associated with early 20th-century classical and chamber music. They pursued clarity and simplicity in reaction against late Romanticism and Impressionism, drawing on popular song, cabaret and jazz influences and contributing to interwar French musical life through collaborative works for theatre, film and concert repertoire.
