Ian Brown is an English singer-songwriter from Manchester who first gained recognition in the late 1980s as the frontman of The Stone Roses and began a solo career in the mid-1990s, working across alternative rock, indie and electronic genres. His solo recordings combine guitar-driven songwriting with electronic, hip hop and dance influences and are often discussed in the context of the Madchester scene and subsequent developments in British indie music.
