The Boomtown Rats

The Boomtown Rats are an Irish rock band formed in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, in 1975, associated with punk rock and new wave. They combined punk energy with melodic pop and new wave influences, later moving toward more polished pop‑rock production while addressing social and political themes in their lyrics.
