Douglas Ewart is a Jamaican-born multi-instrumentalist and composer who moved to the United States and became part of the Chicago avant-garde jazz scene and the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, working primarily in jazz, free improvisation and experimental music. His practice encompasses a wide range of woodwind and brass instruments, instrument building and experimental composition, and he has contributed to the development of community-based arts and improvised music practices.
