Grady Tate was an American jazz drummer and singer from Durham, North Carolina, who began his professional career in the 1950s and became prominent as a New York-based session musician and recording artist. Known for his precise drumming and deep baritone voice, his work spanned jazz, soul-jazz and popular studio sessions, and he recorded solo vocal albums that reflected a shift from sideman to featured vocalist.
