Zhu Xiao-Mei is a Chinese classical pianist from Shanghai who trained at the Shanghai Conservatory and began her performing career in the late 20th century after interruptions during the Cultural Revolution. Specialising in Baroque repertoire, particularly the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, she emphasises contrapuntal clarity and expressive restraint and has developed an international performing and teaching career shaped by the cultural upheavals of her generation.
