Sir Frederic Hymen Cowen
Frederic Hymen Cowen (1852–1935) was a British composer, conductor and pianist born in Jamaica who established his career in Britain from the late 19th century and worked primarily within the Romantic tradition. His output encompassed orchestral works, choral cantatas, chamber music and songs that employed late-Romantic harmonies and lyrical melody, and his dual roles as composer and conductor placed him within the Victorian and Edwardian musical milieu.
