Jonathan Segel is an American multi-instrumentalist from the San Francisco Bay Area who began his career in the early 1980s as a member of the Santa Cruz alternative/indie rock group Camper Van Beethoven and subsequently pursued solo and collaborative projects. His work spans violin, guitar and electronic instrumentation across genres including indie rock, avant-pop, experimental folk and electronic music, evolving from melodic indie rock roots into more instrumental and experimental recordings that connected underground rock and experimental scenes.
