Trilok Gurtu

Trilok Gurtu is an Indian percussionist and composer from Mumbai who began his professional career in the early 1970s, working across Indian classical traditions, jazz and world music. Blending traditional tabla techniques with frame drums, hand percussion and electronic elements, his work has emphasised cross-cultural improvisation and the integration of Indian rhythmic concepts into contemporary jazz and world-music contexts.
