Vincenzo Galilei
Vincenzo Galilei was an Italian lutenist, composer and music theorist active from the mid-16th century, working in and around Florence within the late Renaissance and early Baroque musical milieu. He advocated for a clearer, text-centred approach to solo song, conducted experiments in tuning and acoustics, and set out his ideas in treatises that helped shape monodic practice and the early development of opera.
