Gustavo Santaolalla is an Argentine musician and composer from El Palomar in Buenos Aires Province who began his career in the late 1960s and 1970s working in rock and folk music before moving into film composition and record production. He combines minimalist acoustic textures and Latin American folk motifs with electronic production, evolving from performer to film composer and producer and participating in crossover projects such as electrotango that have contributed to contemporary Latin American music.
