Josef Reicha was a Bohemian cellist, composer and conductor of the Classical period, born in Chudenice (Bohemia) in 1752 and active in the late 18th century. He produced cello concertos, chamber works and orchestral pieces that blend Bohemian melodic elements with the formal conventions of the Classical era and were performed in court and civic musical circles across Central Europe.
