Kajagoogoo are an English new wave and synth-pop band formed in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, in 1978, originally performing under the name Art Nouveau before adopting the Kajagoogoo moniker in the early 1980s. They combined concise pop songwriting with synthesiser-driven arrangements and a glossy production aesthetic, initially aligning with the new romantic and synth-pop movements of the early 1980s and later undergoing lineup and stylistic changes that incorporated more guitar-based and mainstream pop textures, positioning them within the context of early-1980s British pop culture.
