Don Alias
Don Alias was an American percussionist from the New York jazz scene who began his career in the 1960s and worked primarily within jazz, jazz fusion and world music contexts. He specialised in hand percussion and congas, drawing on Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and African rhythmic traditions and moving between acoustic and electric ensembles to help broaden the rhythmic vocabulary of modern jazz and fusion.
