Cal Tjader Sextet
The Cal Tjader Sextet was an American Latin jazz ensemble formed in the 1950s in the San Francisco Bay Area that emerged from the West Coast jazz scene. Combining Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms with bebop and cool jazz harmonies, the group featured vibraphone-led arrangements and a small-combo format that contributed to the dissemination of Latin-influenced jazz in mid-20th-century America.
