Gregor Joseph Werner was an Austrian composer active in the first half of the 18th century who served as Kapellmeister at the Esterházy court from the 1720s and worked primarily in sacred and instrumental genres within the late Baroque tradition. His output, including masses, requiems, cantatas and instrumental pieces, reflects late Baroque counterpoint alongside emerging Classical clarity, and his long court service helped shape the musical practices of the Esterházy household in the mid-18th century.
