Ignaz Lachner

Ignaz Lachner was a German composer and conductor of the 19th century who worked within the Romantic tradition, beginning his career in theatre and orchestral posts in the German-speaking states. His music, including chamber works, Lieder and orchestral pieces, is characterised by classical forms infused with Romantic harmony and lyrical melody, and he played a role in the musical life of provincial German centres in the nineteenth century.
