Francis Pilkington was an English composer, lutenist and singer active from the late 16th to the early 17th century, associated with the city of Chester and working within the late Renaissance and early Baroque English musical milieu. His surviving music, which includes lute songs and sacred consort pieces, reflects a blend of polyphonic vocal writing and lute-accompanied solo song characteristic of Elizabethan and Jacobean domestic and cathedral music traditions.
