Giles Farnaby

Giles Farnaby was an English composer and virginalist, born in Truro, Cornwall around 1563 and active in the late Elizabethan and early Stuart periods as part of the English keyboard tradition. His surviving output, largely preserved in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, comprises dances, variations and character pieces for the virginals which display colourful harmonies, rhythmic invention and occasional humour within domestic and courtly musical contexts.
