Hal David
Hal David was an American lyricist, born in New York City in 1921, who began his career writing for radio and the popular-music market in the mid-20th century and worked predominantly in pop and easy-listening genres. His lyrics often used concise, narrative phrasing to explore themes of love and longing, and through collaborations with prominent composers his songs entered mid-20th-century popular songcraft and the adult-contemporary repertoire.
