William Brade was an English composer and instrumentalist active in Germany from the late 16th to the early 17th century, known for publishing consort and dance music for viols and violins. Drawing on the English consort tradition and continental dance forms, his surviving works—pavans, galliards, allemandes and intradas—reflect the transition from Renaissance to early Baroque instrumental styles and illustrate the exchange of musical ideas between England and German courts.
