Bread are an American soft rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1968, emerging from the late 1960s singer‑songwriter and folk‑rock scenes and operating largely within soft rock, folk rock and pop rock. They specialised in mellow, melodic ballads and smooth, polished production that blended acoustic instrumentation with orchestral touches, and their career included periods of activity, hiatus and occasional reunions that reflected changes in early 1970s radio and popular tastes.
