The Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra originated in Boston as the resident ensemble of the Boston Early Music Festival, assembled to perform Renaissance and Baroque repertoire on period instruments. Specialising in historically informed performance practice, the orchestra has developed through staged revivals of early operas and collaborations with scholars to promote performance and study of pre-Classical repertoire in North America.
