Deborah Harry is an American singer and actress who began her career in the mid-1970s as the lead vocalist of the New York City new wave band Blondie, whose music drew on punk, pop and disco influences. Her musical style fused punk and pop sensibilities with electronic and dance elements, and over the course of her career she alternated between band projects and solo work while contributing to the rise of new wave and reflecting cultural shifts in late 1970s and early 1980s popular music.
