Chris Cheek is an American jazz saxophonist who emerged on the New York jazz scene in the 1990s, initially working as a sideman before leading his own groups and recording as a leader. His playing and compositions blend post-bop harmonic language with contemporary and melodic elements, encompassing both tenor and soprano saxophone work across small-group formats and collaborative projects within modern jazz.
