Michael Finnissy

Michael Finnissy is an English composer and pianist who began his professional career in the late 1960s and is associated with contemporary classical and experimental music. His work is characterised by complex, virtuosic notation, extended techniques and dense textures, evolving to encompass large-scale vocal and theatrical works as well as demanding solo piano and chamber repertoire that frequently engages with reworkings of pre-existing material.
