Harold Land

Harold Land was an American tenor saxophonist who emerged from the Los Angeles jazz scene in the late 1940s and built a career centred on hard bop, post-bop and West Coast jazz. His playing combined robust, blues-inflected phrasing with a modal vocabulary, evolving from hard bop foundations into more exploratory post-bop forms and contributing to the stylistic development of West Coast jazz.
