Roland Neuwirth is an Austrian singer-songwriter from Vienna who began his career in the 1970s and formed the group Extremschrammeln to explore and modernise traditional Viennese song forms. His work blends Wienerlied with elements of jazz, blues and rock, reworking traditional songs and composing new material that situates the genre within contemporary urban and cultural contexts.
