Larry Ochs is an American saxophonist and composer based in San Francisco who began his career in the late 1970s as a founding member of the Rova Saxophone Quartet, working primarily in avant-garde jazz and experimental music. His work combines composed frameworks and free improvisation, often using extended techniques and large-ensemble formats to explore the connections between jazz, contemporary classical and experimental practices within the West Coast avant-garde scene.
