Marc’ Antonio Ziani

Marc'Antonio Ziani was an Italian Baroque composer, born in Venice in the mid-17th century, who began his career composing for Venetian churches and theatres before entering the service of the Habsburg imperial court in Vienna. His output included operas and sacred music that blended Venetian operatic lyricism with north Italian contrapuntal traditions, reflecting the stylistic exchanges between Italy and the Habsburg lands during the late Baroque period.
