Alfredo Kraus

Alfredo Kraus was a Spanish operatic tenor from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria whose professional career began in the 1950s and who specialised in lyric and bel canto repertoire, performing both opera and zarzuela. He employed a refined, technique-driven approach that emphasised vocal control and pianissimo singing, maintained a repertoire that highlighted Spanish works and 19th-century Italian roles, and played a role in bringing those traditions to international audiences.
