Biagio Marini was an Italian Baroque violinist and composer, born in Brescia around 1594 and active from the early 17th century in various Italian and northern European courts. His music emphasises virtuosic violin writing, experimental string techniques and the development of early instrumental forms, contributing to the emergence of the solo violin repertoire in the early Baroque period.
