Clyde Stubblefield was an American drummer from Chattanooga, Tennessee, who began his professional career in the 1960s playing in funk and soul ensembles. His tight, syncopated drum patterns and distinctive breaks became central to funk rhythm and were extensively sampled in hip hop, shaping percussion approaches across popular music.
