Doriot Anthony Dwyer
Doriot Anthony Dwyer was an American classical flautist born in Streator, Illinois, who began her professional orchestral career in the 1940s and was appointed principal flute of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1952. Her repertoire encompassed classical and contemporary works, and she was among the first women to hold a principal wind position in a major American orchestra, a role that contributed to shifting gender norms within the orchestral profession.
