The Almanac Singers

The Almanac Singers were an American folk group formed in New York City in 1941, active in the early 1940s and closely associated with labour and left-wing political causes. Their repertoire combined traditional folk styles with topical protest and union songs, shifting from an early anti-war stance to support for the war effort after 1941, and they contributed to the labour movement and the development of politically engaged folk music.
