Gamelan Gong Kebyar is a style of Balinese gamelan music that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Bali, Indonesia, and is performed by orchestras of tuned metallophones, gongs, drums and flutes. Characterised by sudden dynamic shifts, virtuosic percussion techniques and rapid rhythmic changes, Gong Kebyar evolved alongside social and ritual practices in Bali and is commonly used to accompany dance, temple ceremonies and competitive performances.
