Gaspar Sanz was a Spanish baroque composer, guitarist and priest from Calanda, Aragon, active from the mid-17th century who published the instructional collection Instrucción de música sobre la Guitarra Española in the 1670s. His music and instruction fuse Iberian folk dance forms and baroque instrumental techniques for the five-course baroque guitar, contributing repertoire and technical approaches that fed into later classical guitar practice within Spanish musical culture.
