George Frederick McKay was an American composer active in the Pacific Northwest who began his career in the early 20th century, composing orchestral, chamber and piano works within classical and contemporary idioms. He drew on American folk, blues, jazz and Indigenous musical elements, producing tonal and often programme-driven pieces that later incorporated some modernist techniques while maintaining a regional and cultural focus.
