Philip van Wilder

Philip van Wilder was a Flemish lutenist and composer born around 1500 who spent much of his career in England from the reign of Henry VIII onwards, serving at the Tudor court and composing within the Renaissance vocal and instrumental tradition. His music blends Franco-Flemish polyphonic techniques with English vocal and consort forms, producing lute pieces and consort songs that illustrate the exchange between continental and English musical practices in the sixteenth century.
