Harold Shapero

Harold Shapero was an American classical composer from Lynn, Massachusetts, who began his career in the late 1930s and 1940s after studies at Harvard and in Paris, working primarily in orchestral and chamber genres. Associated with mid-20th-century neoclassicism, his music often blends 18th-century forms and clear textures with mid-century harmonic language, and he spent much of his career composing and teaching within the American classical-music community.
