    Leopold Hager is an Austrian conductor born in Vienna in 1935 who trained at the Vienna Academy of Music and began a professional career in the 1960s with appointments at opera houses and orchestras, specialising principally in classical and early Romantic repertoire. Across a career of recordings and international guest appearances he has emphasised Mozart and Central European orchestral and operatic traditions, favouring clarity of phrasing and historically informed tempi and articulation.
