Michael Horovitz

Michael Horovitz was an English poet and performance artist born in Frankfurt in 1935 who established his literary career in London in the early 1960s and founded the New Departures series that paired poetry with live music. He blended Beat-influenced and avant-garde poetry with jazz and improvised music, presenting cross-disciplinary events and publications that contributed to post-war British spoken-word and performance poetry.
