Marilyn Mazur is a Danish percussionist and composer born in Copenhagen in 1955 who began her professional career in the 1970s and is associated with jazz, improvisation and world-fusion genres. Her work blends polyrhythmic percussion, melodic use of tuned percussion and electronic textures, evolving from acoustic jazz ensembles into larger percussive and ensemble projects that incorporate Scandinavian, African and Latin rhythmic elements and emphasise improvisation and cross-cultural collaboration.
