Philly Joe Jones
Philly Joe Jones was an American jazz drummer from Philadelphia who began his professional career in the 1940s and was associated primarily with bebop and hard bop. Noted for a crisp, propulsive ride-cymbal technique, intricate snare work and complex rhythmic phrasing, his playing helped shape modern jazz drumming through polyrhythmic accents, interactive small-group accompaniment and energetic soloing.
