Wayne Shorter

Wayne Shorter was an American jazz saxophonist and composer from Newark, New Jersey, who began his professional career in the late 1950s and is associated with hard bop, post-bop and jazz fusion. Known for his distinctive tone and complex, harmonically adventurous compositions, his work evolved from hard bop and modal experiments into fusion and modern jazz composition, contributing to the development of post-bop, modal and avant-garde approaches and influencing subsequent generations of jazz musicians.
